PRISim®

PRISim simulators provide highly realistic use-of-force training that develops the skills required by law enforcement, security and military personnel, who are armed with both lethal and less-lethal weapons.
A complete range of judgmental training simulators allows training to be conducted at fixed facilities, or at any off-site location using one of the portable systems. The PRISim system supports training with live-firing weapons or with laser-modified simulator weapons.

Realistic training
Highly realistic scenarios
The PRISim platform produces exceptionally realistic video-based environments for all aspects of firearms handling including marksmanship, decision-making and tactical deployment. Only PRISim utilizes broadcast-quality DVD technology to create vivid digital environments that are as close as you can get to the real thing.
The PRISim simulator delivers all the hard realities of a real operational encounter. The judgment calls, indecision, sudden fear, partial understanding, blind side surprise and eye-blink response are all part of the training experience that conditions the trainee for survival.
PRISim uses video branching to alter scenario outcomes based upon the trainee's decisions and interactions. The instructor also has functions to dynamically alter the scenario outcome. This means that every situation has multiple endings and is not memorisable.
Marksmanship
The Marksman system is an add-on software for the PRISim simulator that enables instructors to easily control courses of fire for basic marksmanship training, weapons handling and qualification shooting. The Marksman software supports up to four trainees shooting at the screen simultaneously.
Marksman features:
- a variety of ready-to-use scenarios and targets
- simulated wind effects
- ballistic correction for each shot fired, based upon the type of weapon being used
- an automatic scoring system with different markers to indicate hits and misses
- Mean Point of Impact and Grouping calculations for every shot group
- a scenario editor, giving instructors the ability to create custom scenarios
Marksman is available for both live and laser-fire PRISim systems. No additional equipment needs to be added to the PRISim simulator to run Marksman.
High-quality content
Quality content is the key to effective simulator training. Nitor has an extensive scenario library that you can use with your PRISim simulator. These scenarios depict a wide variety of situations encountered by personnel operating in both civilian and military settings.
Professional scenario filming
Nitor offers a complete filming and authoring service to give you your own customised interactive training scenarios. Our team of simulation experts can provide:
- training needs analysis, to help identify training goals for each scenario
- scenario development, scriptwriting and storyboarding
- logistics planning and coordination between the client and film crew
- film-making equipment and actors
Once filming is completed, our in-house experts do the post-production work and scenario authoring. The final set of interactive video scenarios is recorded on to a DVD.
PRISim® shoots back
ShootBack™ cannon
The PRISim ShootBack™ cannon is a devastatingly effective tool to train personnel to make proper use of available cover. The ShootBack™ cannon simulates hostile fire by launching 17 mm caliber nylon projectiles at the trainee using compressed air.
The instructor-aimed cannon is controlled via a joystick. Video images from a small barrel-mounted camera are displayed on a video monitor, where the instructor can observe the responses of the trainee.
The instructor can select manual firing, or use the synchronise-to-video function to have the cannon shoot at the exact same time as the video actor on the screen.
The ShootBack™ cannon is unique, as it's the only patented hostile-fire system to be fully integrated with the PRISim simulator.
Fixed installation and portable systems available
Whether it's a live-firing system (LiveFireTrainer™) installed within an existing shooting range, a laser-based classroom trainer (InstalledTrainer™), a fully portable training system (PortableTrainer™), or a mobile training system (MobileTrainer™) for teaching officers in multiple locations, Nitor has a PRISim simulator to match your training needs.

If you have a requirement to train security personnel in the aviation industry, why not combine one of our aircraft mock-ups with a PRISim simulator to give your officers the most realistic training experience.
Features common to all PRISim® systems
- Video-based scenarios with multiple outcomes, both multi-point—at different intervals within the same storyline—and multi-path—many outcomes from each point. This means that trainees can interact with the situation in many more ways
- Accuracy and timing affect the final scenario outcome. Shots to specific body parts can have different outcomes, so a non-fatal strike might need further intervention from the trainee
- High-quality video images allow trainees to see changes in facial expression and body language, providing visual clues to the intent of the video actors
- Practice mode gives officers the chance to warm-up and practice drawing their firearm
- Plackback mode provides instructors with fast and easy-to-use tools to debrief trainees after the scenario is over
- With the optional trainee capture software installed, instructors can play back a recording of the trainee's actions on the screen. The trainee's voice recording is played back over the loudspeakers
- All training data is stored in a standard Microsoft Access™ database
Features of the laser-fire system
- Can track shots fired by up to 4 trainees at the same time
- Displays coloured muzzle traces for each weapon during scenario playback
- Supports all types of laser-modified firearms including semi-automatic handguns, revolvers, assault rifles, sub-machine guns and shotguns
- Trainees can practice using less-lethal weapons like PepperBall®, TASER® and chemical sprays
- Supports training under low-light conditions with the optional flashlight
Features of the live-fire system
- Officers train with their own service weapon and live ammunition
- High-speed bullet-tracking sensors provide an automatic marking system, so instructors can see the fall of shot even when trainees miss their intended target
All live-firing PRISim systems require a purpose-built or pre-existing shooting range, fitted out with a certified ventilation system and bullet catcher capable of stopping the caliber of rounds that you intend to train with.
